about me |
Having been committed to ongoing personal development since 1978, I discovered acupuncture in 1980 and was successfully treated for migraines and depression. I decided to train in acupuncture at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa (1983-86) and I began my therapeutic career in 1986. I have worked in and around the Midlands since that time. I gained my first counselling qualification in 1988 and continued training in both individual and groupwork until, in 1999, I received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Counselling from Coventry University (II.1). I am now a registered counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy in recognition of my training and experience, gained with the Psychological Therapies Department, Gulson Hospital, Coventry; Safeline, a charity for people sexually abused as children; the Student Counselling Service, Warwickshire College, as well as counselling privately since 1991. I am passionate about personal development work and am happy to work with clients of all age groups. I have experience in working with bereavement and loss, career change, relationship issues, stress management, sexual abuse and health issues, but most of all I welcome the people behind the issues that they bring. I trained in groupwork with the Parent Network (1988) and furthered that training and experience by training to facilitate Community Building Workshops in 1993. I have created and facilitated workshops in Anger, Assertiveness, Bereavement & Suicide Awareness, Bullying, Celebrating Menstruation, Conflict Resolution, Communication Skills, Mediation, Parenting, Stress Management, and others, as well as co-creating an NLP awareness evening class and a workshop for mothers and daughters on the verge of puberty. I am involved in staffing for the Women in Power programme (www.womeninpowerprogam.com) both in the UK and US. This programme brings another layer of understanding and depth to my work with one-to-one clients. I believe in human potential. |
